1. About

"The Flame" is a powerful and moving audiobook that brings to life the extraordinary story of Lua Getsinger, one of the earliest and most devoted disciples of the Bahá’í Faith in the West. Often referred to as the “mother-teacher of the American Bahá’í community,” Lua’s life was marked by her spiritual radiance, courage, and passionate dedication to sharing the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh. Her deep love for ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, her tireless travels, and her remarkable ability to inspire others made her a central figure during the early years of the Faith’s expansion in the West.

This audiobook is based on the biographical book The Flame, which chronicles Lua’s inner and outer journey—from her early spiritual quest to her eventual role as a champion of the Bahá’í teachings across the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. The narrative highlights her personal challenges, her service at the instruction of ‘Abdu’l-Bahá, and her unwavering determination to bring hope, unity, and spiritual clarity to a world deeply in need of healing.

The audiobook was lovingly produced in Melbourne during the COVID-19 lockdowns, when a group of friends — isolated physically but connected spiritually — came together to record this inspiring story. Through each voice and recording, this project became a tribute to Lua’s enduring legacy and to the spirit of resilience that thrives in times of hardship.

We hope "The Flame" will rekindle spiritual passion in its listeners, just as Lua’s own flame lit the path for so many in her time. -
