Life after Death:
Warwick Leaflets
Warwick Bahá'í Bookshop
2002
"To consider that after the death of the body the spirit perishes, is like
imagining that a bird in a cage will be destroyed if the cage is broken, though
the bird has nothing to fear from the destruction of the cage. Our body is like
the cage, and the spirit is like the bird? if the cage becomes broken, the bird
will continue and exist. Its feelings will be even more powerful, its
perceptions greater, and its happiness increased. In truth, from hell it
reaches a paradise of delights because for the thankful birds there is no
paradise greater than freedom from the cage."
Life
in the Next World
"The
world beyond is as different from this world as this world is different from
that of the child while still in the womb of its mother."
Before a child is born, its whole world is the womb of its mother. It has no
idea of the world waiting outside into which it will be born. It is the same
with this, material, world. The next, spiritual, world surrounds us but we are
unable to understand this until the spirit leaves this world and is born into
the next.
"Know thou of a truth that the soul,
after its separation from the body, will continue to progress until it attaineth
the presence of God, in a state and condition which neither the revolution of
ages and centuries, nor the changes and chances of this world, can alter. It
will endure as long as the Kingdom of God, His sovereignty, His dominion and
power will endure. It will manifest the signs of God and His attributes, and
will reveal His loving-kindness and bounty."
"The rewards of the other world are
peace, the spiritual graces, the various spiritual gifts in the Kingdom of God,
the gaining of the desires of the heart and soul, and the meeting of God in the
world of eternity."
"As
for thy question whether the souls will recognise each other in the spiritual
world: This fact is certain; for the Kingdom is the world of vision where all
concealed realities will become disclosed."
"Likewise a love that one may have entertained for anyone will not be forgotten
in the world of the Kingdom, nor wilt thou forget there the life thou hadst in
the material world."
Acceptance
"Sorrow not if, in these days and on
this earthly plane, things contrary to your wishes have been ordained and
manifested by God, for days of blissful joy, of heavenly delight, are assuredly
in store for you. Worlds, holy and spiritually glorious, will be unveiled to
your eyes."
Prayer
"Those who have ascended have different attributes (conditions) from those who
are still on earth, yet there is no real separation. In prayer there is a
mingling of stations, a mingling of conditions. Pray for them as they pray for
you."
A prayer for those in the next world:
"O my God! O Thou forgiver of sins,
bestower of gifts, dispeller of afflictions!
Verily, I beseech Thee to
forgive the sins of such as have abandoned the physical garment and have
ascended to the spiritual world.
O my Lord! Purify them from
trespasses, dispel their sorrows, and change their darkness into light. Cause
them to enter the garden of happiness, cleanse them with the most pure water,
and grant them to behold Thy splendours on the loftiest
mount."
